				Company Profile Company founder Grant McKinnon (Grunta) brings a wealth of skills and enthusiasm to the R.C. Yachting industry, having been involved in model yacht design and building for the past 20 years. Prior to founding Wind Warrior Limited in 1995 he graduated from the University of Auckland with a 1st class honours degree in mechanical engineering (majoring in aerodynamics, design and production). After working with the New Zealand leading whiteware company as a robotics technician, he began the production of the Wind Warrior mark II based on a successful model developed as a hobby.

				Today with over 800 Wind Warriors built to date, now sailing in 12 countries world wide, the Wind Warrior is still the backbone of the company as a reliable, quick, good looking and fun R.C. yacht. Many of the unique systems and production techniques are also used on custom design and refit projects as well as new designs. Grant is an experienced yachtie in many aspects of the sport, competing in New Zealand and internationally, at a top level in keel boat and R.C. Yachts as well as offshore racing and cruising. Grant is also a contract rigger, working on super-yachts both in New Zealand and offshore. He currently owns the Elliot 8m “Grunty Chicken” self built to the same quality and attention to detail as his radio yachts ( with a few of his own innovations thrown in).
